Hello runners! My name is Clinton Munkres and I am relatively new to the world of running. What inspired me to start this blog is the desire to be able to find good, or at least acceptable, running gear cheaply. I don’t have a lot of disposable income to throw at new running shoes, socks, nutrition, apparel, etc. My goal is to pass along bargains I find on the Internet to folks who are in the same boat that I am. Eventually I will add in reviews but for now I will be more about linking and tweeting deals I find on a day to day basis.
About my running. Yep, you could say I am new. I just started in September 2012 as a way to lose more weight. I had already lost about 50 pounds from simply walking and counting calories but I figured I could step it up a notch by running. This was no small feat for me as I was a horrible runner in high school which means now that 25 years have passed, coupled with gaining 100 lbs, I would be embarking on a trip I wasn’t sure I wanted to make.
Enter C25K. Rather Couch to 5k. Simply put, it is a program that gets you literally from being a couch potato to running 3.1 miles straight in about 9 weeks. Well, I did it and now am running up to 10 miles straight on the weekends for my weekly long run.
Currently training for my first half marathon.
